Call To Order: 1200

Review of minutes. Motion to Approve July 2008 minutes made, passed unanimously.

Director's Report

Mira introduced to board.

Mural added to front of building.

Non-traditional shows were well-received.

Brief discussion of the Lowell creative economy and how the city appears to see itself.

Music Booking. Help needed.

Soundscape Project. Walter will meet with a potential organizer to discuss this sound and mapping project further. Partnership with WUML.

LowellXFest. Based on Frantasia.  A combination of local and visiting artist, collaborations. To occur Feb 27, 28. An answered list of questions will be available on the wiki soon.

Partnership Development. Walter would like to reach out to local universities in an attempt to serve them as a resource.

Motion made to accept Director's Report made and passed unanimously.

Curator's Report

There was a very positive reaction to immediate previous and current exhibits including 5 sales during previous exhibit.

"Friends of Photography" opens 9/30/08. ZineArt opens 10/14 with a reception on 11/1 and closes 11/08/08.

Looking for comfortable furniture to create the feeling of a home-like reading room.

Setheyny will do a 1-week video display show 11/11.

Job Description for Curator has been posted. MAK gave an explanation of the listed resposibilities.

Discussion of corelation between curator and marketing.

Felicia encouraged re-wording of organizing and scheduling line.

Motion made to accept Curator's report accepted unanimously.

Financial Report

We have currently raised one third of the money we planned on despite the financial period being three-quarters over. On a positive note we have also overestimated our expected spending. We are currently spending slightly less than what we are taking in.

Grant update: We have a NAMAC grant due in September, LCC due in October.  Discussion of the need to form a development committee.

Motion made to accept Financial report accepted unanimously.

Marketing

Survey sent out

Media contacts removed from newslist.

Sales Force sent out 10 licences to us due to our non-profit nature.

Fund Raisers: Nov 16 Jazz Brunch plus dinner and movie (two events, same day). Catered by Mira. Discussion of differences between events.

Motion made to accept Martketing Report accepted unanimously.
