9) What do we have to do to be recognized as a member of Lowell's "Cultural Community?"
Although we have been members of, co-sponsors of, and donated in-kind to Mass Poetry Fest, Parker Lecture Series, and “Cultural Collaborative,” we continue to be overlooked in their advertising and promotional materials. We are not listed as a partner on the Mass Poetry Fest website. I’m not even listed as a committee member (I missed one meeting while on vacation). Our Saturday night program doesn’t appear on their schedule, while UVAS's on Friday is bolded. UMass Lowell’s Arts & Ideas doesn’t list us as “Community Partner” despite the fact that we will host four exhibits this year featuring UMass Lowell Faculty and Students - Prof Hyun Ju Kim (solo show), Prof Steve Mishol and students (group show), Setheyny’s last exhibit included 4 students from the Art Dept, and Prof Denise Dumas (solo show).
Follow up: An email was sent to UML by W2 voicing these concerns. The concerns were validated but the issues have yet to be addressed. Pretty much the same deal with Mass Poetry.
-Felicia suggested the creation of a documented agreement (not contract) between 119 and partners stating that both parties will acknowledge each others involvement.
-Walter brought up that we might be losing a show to a downtown venue because our neighborhood is being portrayed as dangerous and distant. Rat will meaure the distance to downtown (starting at the hotel dorms) and record bikecam video directions from both dorms and the Gallagher terminal.
10) Next Meeting Sunday October 4, 2009, 12noon.
