2. Director's Report- (Walter)
Jan-Aug 2009 exhibit schedule posted. A week has been added between shows for display set-up time.
FS: Are there other potential partners on soundscape project? W2: Other (LTC, other local) partners are being approached, feel free to recommend any. FS: Maybe Jack Straw in Seattle and other non-local. Kitty: North Adams and other art-based rural colleges?
3. Curator's Report (Mary Ann, Setheyny)
Opening reception for Zine Art show was yesterday (hung by Walter). Most pieces for any single show. Attendance was a little low but there a good deal of foot traffic. Most of attendees were the artists and friends/families thereof. How to reach beyond that? (a) Avoid scheduling events that conflict with Western Ave's 1st Saturday event/day after major holidays. (b) Personalized invitations to desired/realistic attendees (main cost with postcards is mailing them out).
For 2009: Get zines up on merch page, follow up to Zine event with workshops.
4. Financial Reports
Monthly (Jason)
We are now including the rent as an expense (lumped for year into October, monthly from now on).
5. Marketing Report (Mira)
Fundraisers (Mira)
Newsletters have been archived. Merch site has been improved (includes memberships and tickets for select events).
Overview of Jazz Brunch Event (Dec 7th)
Invitations should be going out later this week. 154 people on list. Boardmembers should be present (a talkingpoint cheatsheet will be provided).
Dinner and a Movie
Silent movie with live music, lasagna dinner. Sunday Nov 16th.
"First Impressions survey results" followup (Setheyny)
Was a night to get people interested in gallery. Mainly attended by highschool and college students. Sign-up sheets/surveys were made available. Jeff had screenprinting booth. Potential flier group formed. Successful, positive event. Gorilla shows have been reaching the a younger audience that wants to see the shows before they're gone.
Post-fundraisers: examine different groups utilizing gallery and determine how best to serve them.
Soundscape: Letter sent out to UML. Plans to iron out timeline and event descriptions.
FS: suggestion to form subgroup to examine outreach efforts.
6. New Business
Board Development Ideas
Craig Freeman will be missed. He is still supportive of the gallery. BeeBe from Astrodine has shown interest in attending meetings as a stand-in for Sam. Mary Ann would like to expand the board to include other people of this caliber.
Screen Printing (Jeff)
Need to know how many shirts to print. These will be placed on merch page.
7. Next meeting: Dec 14th, noon-1:30 (rescheduled from 12/7 due to Jazz Brunch).
8. Upcoming items to consider: Next board retreat (end of March?). We'll need a Director by Spring 2010.
Discussion of how to better communicate who 119 is and how to use an improved perception to increase funders (Jim).
CTA: 1:35.
