DIRECTOR'S REPORT

NAMAC CONF.

Consideration of who should and/or can attend this media arts leadership development event in Oregon. 119 has already paid to send 2 people. This is an olbigation to CTC VISTA as part of the VISTA volunteer arrangement. One of the two needs to be the volunteer. MAK was the original candidate but may not be available. Dan will let the board know if he is able to do so within the week.

NEW INTERN

Danielle Disci (sp?). Currently looking after database and serving as general office assistant. Discussion of related job description.

WW received email from UML about another intern in the fall to help with press releases/media relations.

NEW WEBSITE

Site is somewhere between blog and traditional website. Jeff Lail is helping with design. Can be switched over from current to new at any time.

PRIVATE PARTIES

No more private parties due to crowd issues and missing equipment (laptop belonging to artist. Insurance paperwork and police report were filed. Insurance bought artist a new laptop).

Discussion of equipment and facility security measures. Suggestion: Equipment inventory and security labeling for ID purposes in the event of theft.

CAPACITY

Capacity number is unofficially 50 according to an LPD representative.

UTEC

Discussion of how to best work with this local youth outreach organization due to the gallery having a high percentage of youth visitors. Discussion also focused on whether events should be co-initiated as opposed to either gallery-initiated or youth-initiated.

EDUCATION PROGRAM

Still going with attendance figures showing evidence of slow build.

EVENTS

Events have received publicity from NPR. Footage of live events shown on LTC has resulted in increased word-of-mouth.

Local Bands are booked months in advance (currently going out to July). Staff t-shirts are in the prototype stage. Dan is organizing staff security volunteers calendar. Dan maintains booking control to ensure quality of events (as opposed to letting one band bring three friend bands).

Sushi Smackdown: Looking for list of chefs to help with promotion.

GRANTS

Parker Foundation: $5000

LCC: 2x $1000 (education and exhibition)

GLCF: $5000 (out)

Mogan: $2500 (out)

MEMBERSHIP

Currently we have over 100 members. Upcoming member show is expected to increase membership.

Members are joining at a higher level than the level required for exhibit entry.

Board Retreat 2008

Discussion about keeping items and ideas from retreat in focus as continuosly discussed long-term goals.

Review of action items from retreat and progress made in regards thereto (eg calendar issues, crowd control, contracts). Suggested that these items remain on agenda to review progress and continued relevance.

BOARD

Unofficial invitation to join board extended to Jeff Lail and Jeanette Renault-Caragianes pending official written invitation.
