Piracy booked the gallery on Fri February 2. We cancelled their gig because of damage done to the artwork at their show in January. At the time we agreed to a show on March 2 …

Fear in Drive, a band from Dracut, played to a large crowd on March 3. The walls were scuffed and another print was damaged. Mary Ann and Heather cleaned up and repainted. The damage was accidental and we all agreed to limit the number of bands, the number of people in the room, and to put more effort into crowd control.

On March 10 the Jonee Earthquake Band from Manchester, NH played. Unfortunately, the crowd included some of the same people who had attended the Piracy show in February. Although, the crowd was 99% well behaved … a third print was damaged. This time the damage was obviously intentional. Also Dan and Mark were forced to eject a couple of kids, one spit on and Mark and caused a small disturbance in front of the gallery. Dan called the police … they were here in less than 5 min. We talked to the producers afterwards. They suspected a small group of kids, not local, who had done the same thing at other venues including the Artspace in Gloucester.

Since we couldn’t identify the person who had caused the damage, I cancelled all shows that included fans of Piracy and Jonee Earthquake. A couple of days later Stephanie Bucholz from UTEC dropped in to check out the space. She was also interested in contacting the bands that had played here. UTEC would love to have them play in their new space and are used to handling the small number of unruly fans that are there to cause trouble …

March 17 Jason and Y Sok Woodward had a birthday party for their daughter Alysa (sp?). More punk rock, this time the bands and the crowd were local. Setheyny’s band played. People noshed and moshed. There were no problems with the exception of a few dirty feet.

The real issue is how do we handle the audience that these bands bring in. I talked with a couple of local kids … they were all in favor of reviving OUtlET’s Surrender - Perhaps, once a month.

There’s the Wiki for our documents. Ask Felecia, I haven’t had time to try it out.
