Hi! just an offshoot proposal for the Board of Directors. The AstroDime Transit Authority is a media arts collective, and it would like to partner with 119 Gallery in creating a Video Journal. First, a brief description of the AstroDime Transit Authority

The AstroDime Transit Authority is a Think-Tank and public service organization that considers issues of transportation, communication and world and intergalactic citizenship. We are specifically interested in issues of race, class, gender and culture with respect to how our human transportation and communication systems are constructed. In addition, we consult and advise in sustainable communication and transportation systems off and on this planet. Our research includes curated video shows, surveys and performances which reveal and explore these issues. Our core members are Bebe Beard, sam smiley, and Mary Ann Kearns, but we invite guest artists and contributors to participate in our curatorial and creative projects. projects of ATA have appeared at the Finger Lakes Environmental Festival in Ithica, New York in 2005, the Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts conference in 2006, the Mars Patent Project in Berlin, Germany, and the ArtCentral Art Festival in Cambridge, in 2005.

We actually already have created our first journal, and have screened it at 119 Gallery on September 16, 2006. it is called

Will Pandabears Ride on the Handlebars of Bicycles in 2092?

and its theme is "future and imagined transportation  systems"

It is approximately 1 hour, has a great cover designed by Bebe Beard, and after giving a small honorarium to the artists, will be ready to distribute. We are screening it at the Boston Cyberarts Festival this May also. We are thinking it will go for around $20.00.

Initial out of pocket expenses are duplication of the tape, and small artist stipends. This may total around $450.00, and may be an out of pocket donation to the 119 gallery by sam smiley and Bebe Beard. we still have to figure that out. hopefully the proceeds from this will fund our next journal which is in process.

Our next journal is called Fast Women. it should screen at 119 sometime in the Fall. Our next one after that is on the subject of CODE. that call for work isn't really out yet, but we're hoping to pair it up with the CODE SLSA conference in nov 2007 in Portland Main and screeen it at 119 in spring of 2008. so we have lots of curating projects on the burner, and some good videos coming in.

our model as a collective is termitetv, our videos are a mix of curated experimental work and short little blips in between provided by ATA. We can probably do 2 1-hour compilations a year right now, with current resources.
